Engagement Ring Trends 2024
As we near the end of 2023, now is a great chance to recap on some of our favourite engagement rings and have a look at what we can expect to see more of in 2024.
This year the demand in custom-designed and bespoke jewellery has grown more than ever. In 2024 custom-designed or bespoke rings will be the go-to option for engagement rings.
Consumers are stepping away from chain jewellery stores in order to create their own unique pieces - to tell their story through specially designed engagement rings.
What design themes will we see more of next year?
#1 Teal Sapphires

Teal Sapphires were once an ignored gemstone alongside rubies, Ceylon sapphires and diamonds. However, teal sapphire engagement rings have been a hot favourite over the last five years and are becoming much more desirable. Due to their unique blue-green tone, teal sapphires look great both in 18ct yellow gold and in platinum. Paring these lovely gems with side diamonds can turn the ring into a showstopper.
#2 Toi Et Moi (AKA two-stone)

Toi Et Moi aka two-stone rings are here to stay! With endless possibilities for each gemstone type and shape, two-stone engagement rings are a style we will see more of in 2024. The two gemstones are a perfect way to represent each person in the relationship. Mixing colours is another great way to make your own two-stone ring the perfect match for you.
#3 Diamond Solitaires

A diamond solitaire engagement ring will be a style that never goes out of fashion. Over the years I have noticed certain shapes that are in more demand than others. Popular diamond cuts we can expect to see more of in 2024 are the longer shapes like oval, elongated cushion-cut and emerald-cut. Pairing a longer diamond with side stones, or a hidden coloured gemstone is a great way to add a touch of personality to your engagement ring without losing the classic appeal.
#4 Asymmetric Engagement Rings

Asymmetric and abstract clusters will be a strong engagement ring theme in 2024. What is an asymmetric ring? An asymmetric ring is a collection of three or more gemstones differing in shape and size, set together in an asymmetrical formation. This style of ring has endless options, from the colour of the gems used, to the shapes, sizes and layout. The world is your oyster when it comes to asymmetric rings.
#5 Free-form Sapphires
Photos above - Left: An elongated free-form parti sapphire with marquise and round diamonds set into an 18ct yellow gold ring. Right: Platinum ring set with a green free-form sapphire and oval and pear-shaped diamonds.
Free-form Sapphire engagement rings have been more popular than ever! No two free-form cut gemstones are the same, which makes them that much more special. Free-form sapphires are cut in a way to maintain the most weight from the natural crystal shape, which is why no two are the same. When designing a ring with a free-from sapphire, you can be super creative. It can be challenging balancing out the asymmetry of the free-form with smaller stones, but when done properly, these types of rings look beautiful!
To sum it up, more consumers are looking for custom-made bespoke engagement rings than ever before. Rings that incorporate part of a couple’s story and pieces that have a classic, elegant feel while remaining unique to the wearer continue to be the dominant trend. Demand for creative, bespoke designs will continue into 2024 and beyond.
